Principal/Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage the accounting team and oversee accounting functions for the companyResponsible for the monthly preparation of accurate financial reports and supporting schedulesResponsible for month-end Work in Process reportMonitor and ensure the accuracy of the daily transactions and journal entriesOperation of the general ledger system, journal entries, and month-end close workMonthly entries, accruals, and reconciliation of intercompany accountsPreparation of monthly reports for the parent CompanyAssist in the annual audit and preparation of financial statementsAssist in the preparation of tax returnAssist in the budget process and periodic forecast updatesCollaborate in the analyses of financial statementsCash flow and collection forecastsEnhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the CompanyPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsEight (8) or more years related experience; with a minimum of three (3) years' experience in the construction industryCPA preferred.Minimum education: Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA preferredAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills and a high level of ability working with spread sheets.Detailed knowledge of Work in Process reporting and Percent of Completion accountingDecisive individual who possesses a "big picture" perspective and is well versed in systems.Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.Well organized and self-directed individual who is a team player.Ability to multi-task, work in high pressure environment.Strong organizational skills and very detail oriented.Proactive and solution oriented.Must demonstrate exceptional judgment, discretion and professional courtesy.Construction experience for a heavy civil contractor is a big plusEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with DisabilitiesThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
