Principal Development Engineer - Performance Infrastructure ---
Under minimal direction, lead and manage the development of
concurrent energy retrofit projects from initiation through
--- Develop an advanced understanding of the full range of JCI
offerings (e.g., building automation systems, HVAC equipment, fire
and security systems, operations and maintenance services, etc.)
and integrate these offerings into projects to Power our Customers'
--- Conceptualize energy retrofit projects for customers that
contain a broad set of JCI offerings as appropriate to meet the
--- Develop and review bid documents.
--- Calculate and review cost savings estimates.
--- Develop a compelling business case for each project.
--- Participate in authoring and negotiating agreements with
customers and subcontractors.
--- Participate in customer meetings and presentations.
--- Be responsible for developing and managing the project
development budget and schedule for concurrent projects.
--- Share accountability for increasing sales and profitability
metrics, for increasing the amount of JCI offerings into projects,
reducing the project development schedule from initiation through
close, increasing win rates, adhering to JCI "best practices", and
minimizing project development costs. How you will do it --- By
collaborating closely with our sales force.
--- By traveling to customer sites around the western US.
--- By applying project management skills related to developing
work breakdown structures, estimating costs, and developing
--- By applying advanced energy engineering, engineering design,
and financial modeling skills.
--- By communicating with customer technical contacts, utility
contacts, subcontractors, local branch offices, etc. to proactively
obtain information needed to develop great projects for our
customers. What we look for Required --- 10+ years of experience in
energy engineering with excellent knowledge of building-related
systems and services.
--- Demonstrated ability to lead energy retrofit project
development and review detailed engineering work.
--- Possess a strong understanding of the performance contracting
regulatory, legislative and business environment, as well as
--- Proven track record as an engineering project manager handling
multiple projects involving energy solutions within the
HVAC/Building Automation industry.
--- Excellent customer-facing skills and comfort presenting at the
--- Strong team leader, able to quickly assemble and manage a team
--- Excellent business analysis skills used to create compelling
--- Ability to travel up to 30 - 40%.
--- Bachelor's degree in Engineering - Mechanical or
--- Third-party technical or business certifications are desirable,
such as PE or CEM certification.--
--- Possesses advanced working knowledge of common computer
applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Project,
--- Experience with public sector vertical markets a plus. Who we
