Shipbuilding Job Summary*
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Shipbuilding Project
Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be
responsible for overseeing and managing shipbuilding projects from
inception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time,
within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role
requires strong technical expertise, excellent project management
skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various
stakeholders.
- Project Engineer - Shipbuilding Responsibilities*
- Project Planning and Management:*
- Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, budgets,
and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders to define project scope,
objectives, and deliverables.
- Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed to
ensure timely and within-budget completion.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation
strategies.
- Technical Oversight:*
- Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project
lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, regulatory
requirements, and industry best practices.
- Oversee the preparation of engineering drawings,
specifications, and technical documentation.
- Conduct technical reviews and inspections to ensure quality and
accuracy.
- Collaboration and Communication:*
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project-related
communications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design,
procurement, production, and quality assurance.
- Facilitate regular project meetings and provide updates to
senior management and clients.
- Resolve any technical issues or conflicts that arise during the
project.
- Budget and Cost Control:*
- Monitor project expenditures and ensure adherence to budget
constraints.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiency
improvements.
- Prepare cost estimates and track financial performance against
project budgets.
- Report on financial status and provide forecasts as
needed.
- Quality Assurance:*
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure
project deliverables meet required standards.
- Conduct inspections and tests to verify the quality of
materials and workmanship.
- Address any non-conformities and implement corrective actions
as necessary.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including quality
records and reports.
- Safety and Compliance:*
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and
standards.
- Promote a culture of safety and implement safety protocols on
the project site.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify and mitigate
hazards.
- Address any safety incidents and implement preventive
measures.
- Project Engineer - Shipbuilding Position Requirements*
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Architecture preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in the construction industry as a
project administrative assistant can be substituted in lieu of an
engineering degree.
- Familiarity with Requests for Information (RFI's), change order
requests and material purchase status.
- Proficiency in utilizing Auto CAD, Solid Works, Rhinoceros, and
GHS preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ship or boat building experience preferred.
- Must be able to successfully obtain a TWIC.
- Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric
Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to
federally controlled work sites
- Hawaii drivers' license in good standing, class 3 or
higher
