Island Locations HMSA BLDG-HMS-OAHMS Company Employment Type Full-time Job Summary The Director, Enterprise Architecture establishes systems and application architecture for the entire organization. This individual is responsible for analyzing needs and overseeing improvement and development of the IT systems, as well as keeping track of updates and trends within the information technology market. The Director, Enterprise Architecture also establishes communication within the organization necessary to carry out the task of implementing new architecture. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages overall enterprise architecture and component architectures; data, information, application, security, cloud and infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support and direction for large and highly complex projects.
  • Project management for enterprise architecture related projects.
  • Participates in technical and business planning activities to define future corporate direction.
  • Identifies and evaluates alternatives for satisfying business requirements.
  • Reviews system requirements across multiple applications and develops or supports the development of architectural models that can be leveraged across the enterprise.
  • Participates in, or leads evaluation and selection processes for application packages, products and tools.
  • Reviews and approves design solutions at the application, domain and enterprise levels. May develop domain architectures as appropriate.
  • Responsible for unit strategy planning, direction and support to achieve the Enterprise Architecture Team's objectives aligned with business strategy.
  • Establish and play a key role in the development of the Information Technology strategic plans and architecture driving technology solutions that are instrumental to meeting the customer business objectives.
  • Ensure that these elements align with the overall enterprise architecture, where applicable, as well as the business drivers of the customer.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for the decision-making and implementation of strategic and technologically complex systems.
  • Designs solutions to resolve issues and improve customer efficiencies and reduce operation costs while maintaining common systems configuration standards, processes and tools.
  • Directs financial and staffing resources for assigned area of responsibility including assignment of projects and work, performance management, career development, compensation, training and development and hiring decisions.
  • Mentors and coaches team members.
  • Promotes the implementation of architectural principles among other members of the IT department to continually improve the level of domain architecture expertise.
  • In conjunction with the Governance unit, oversees development, compliance and continuous improvement of key processes assigned to the Enterprise Architecture unit. Makes, reviews and evaluates IT recommendations. Participates in the decision to approve or deny a recommendation. Advises management on options, risk, cost, benefits, disadvantages and impacts on other processes. Responsible for and works closely with the Technology Review Committee and architects to assure all systems and technologies align with business and IT long-term strategies.
  • Prepares and monitors budget for area of responsibility.
  • Reviews budget versus actual expenditures.
  • Takes appropriate action to remain in budget.
  • Makes recommendations for buy vs. build decisions based on dollar amount and other established processes and criteria.
  • Negotiates highly complex contracts and establishes strategic relationships with key IT vendors.
  • Develops, communicates and ensures compliance with architecture processes, principles, policies, guidelines and standards for the enterprise.
  • Complies with quality policies and processes.
  • May perform quality and adherence audits.
  • Ensures enterprise-wide compliance with enterprise architecture standards, processes and policies for assigned areas.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed. Exempt or Non-Exempt Exempt Minimum Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in a technical, business, or related discipline and ten (10) years of relevant progressive technical and business experience to include a minimum of three (3) years of enterprise architecture experience and two (2) years of healthcare experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
    • Five (5) years of management/supervisory experience.
    • Broad level of understanding surrounding information systems, architecture standards, and technology.
    • Experience with complex technical development and integration in large organizations with significant reliability, performance, and security requirements.
    • Requires advanced to expert knowledge and understanding of multiple core business functions and IT areas (mainframe, distributed systems, web technology, middleware, object-oriented technology, networking, software development and database technology).
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills
    • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills
    • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
