To learn more about our culture, visit Proservice.com/career Role Overview The goal of the VP of People and Culture is to make ProService Hawaii the destination employer for high achievers who want to professionally make an impact in Hawaii. This individual will build efficient people systems that support and foster a vibrant client-focused ownership culture, grow our high performers and grow the number of high performers in our workplace. In doing so, this role directly supports our purpose of empowering employers to succeed. ProService is a growing HR service business that competes and wins on a foundation of a high performing, high values ownership culture. With growth and COVID-19 impacts, we are at a unique time requiring us to re-build our people systems to support a vibrant re-founding our culture; strengthening our ownership behaviors and consistent cultural practices that enable us to compete and win. Today, we are rebuilding our systems to energize and operationalize our core principles across the company, which is all about teaching and improving how we work in the ProService way. The individual selected will learn our best practices and build resilient systems that enable ProService to operate these practices to generate a consistent, positive, high values, high performing culture. This will lead to outcomes that engages, grows and retains our high performing employees. Responsibilities:

  • Develop our team to be highly effective and efficient at recruiting, hiring and onboarding high performers, and installing a high quality, consistent introduction to our culture and business. Measure and report on leading activities and outcomes, with a focus on quality.
  • Drive efficient, low bureaucracy talent assessment. Develop practices and systems to support managers so that high performers are supported, grown, and retained. Measure high performer engagement, growth and retention. Our number one goal is to improve high performer retention by industry leading results.
  • Develop practices to improve or exit low performers or low culture carriers; measuring practices and outcomes.
  • Participate and drive workforce planning and hiring. Collaborate with CFO and other leaders on prioritization. Improve our recruiting effectiveness.
  • Specifically assess managers on their leadership behaviors, including their servant leadership actions. Make their scoring visible and improvement plans clear.
  • Build recognition and rewards that support ownership behaviors. Define cultural behaviors and drive common language and common acts of recognition and appreciation. Build vibrant, organic, and consistent recognition and rewards. Make this loud, fun, and visible!
  • Assess and score our culture on core values, core purpose, servant leadership, service culture, disciplined execution, commitment to high standards and continuous improvement. Make visible our status and our progress.
  • Establish an excellent talent dashboard that is reviewed quarterly by executive leadership and CEO. Develop contingency plans to proactively address areas of concern.
  • Fight and dismantle HR bureaucracy. Drive a People and Culture Team culture that is focused, effective, and efficient. Minimize superfluous work. Strengthen team culture.
  • Advise and enable CEO and direct and support the leadership team to drive culture. Requirements & Qualifications:
    • Track record of delivering projects that drive high performing culture. Execution and success at systems level and direct support of managers and staff. Can move from details to high level and back exceptionally well. Always sees room for improvement despite exceptional demonstrated success.
    • Critical and skilled evaluator of people and culture. Must be able to see what's most important in context and create a clear vision connecting small actions to the large vision for our culture. Every action matters. Make them deliberate.
    • Builder: build energizing programs that connect our people to ownership, client focus, and our core values driven behaviors.
    • Communicator: able to clearly communicate strategy and execution pull through to company and teams, consistently building our culture to deliver a strong, distinctive employer brand.
    • Excellent organization, planning and execution skills. Efficiently execute and manage our HR team for business impact. Set clear priorities and land them with impact.
    • Coach and Teacher. Must be able to coach leaders to drive accountability for team health and team development. Creating leadership accountability to people and culture.
    • High standards. Holds the organization and self to high standards of achievement across the people functions.
