Job Description:
The Island of Oahu in Hawaii is often nicknamed (or translated
as) "The Gathering Place" . It is currently the most populated
Hawaiian Island. The city of Honolulu is the largest city, state
capital, and main deep water marine port for the State of Hawaii.
As a jurisdictional unit, the entire island of Oahu is in Honolulu
County, although as a place name, Honolulu occupies only a portion
of the southeast end of the island. Well-known features found on
Oahu include Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Hanauma, Kane’ohe
Bay, Kailua Bay, North Shore, and the resort destination, Ko’Olina.
Responsibilities Neurology Physician - Provides outpatient care,
diagnosis, and treatment of neurologic disorders, emphasizing
return to military duty. - Serves as consultant for the Traumatic
Brain Injury (TBI) Clinic. - Evaluates patients, orders/assesses
tests (electrophysiology, imaging, labs), prescribes treatments,
and makes referrals. - Offers prescription renewals, telehealth,
and e-consults. On-Call Coverage - Provides neurology consults for
ER, wards, ICUs, recovery rooms, and outlying clinics. - Daytime
call: 0730–1630, with clinic adjusted for emergent cases. -
Night/weekend call: home call (phone consult, in-person if needed).
- Shares flexible call schedule with other neurology staff; ensures
proper sign-out between shifts. Regional Consultation - Offers
phone/telemedicine consults for TRICARE referral region. - Provides
recommendations on diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment. - Assists
with urgent or emergent cases and air evacuation evaluations. -
Uses electronic records for consults and data retrieval. Teaching &
Supervision - Supervises, trains, and consults with nurse
practitioners, PAs, medical students, interns, residents, and
fellows. - Provides chart reviews, peer reviews, and occasional
performance oversight. - May participate in clinical/lab research
and supervise house staff research. Qualifications Who May Apply:
U.S. Citizens Basic Requirements: - Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of
Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from accredited U.S./Canadian
school (or equivalent foreign degree with ECFMG certification). -
Current, unrestricted medical license (U.S. State/Territory/DC/PR).
- Minimum one year supervised clinical experience
(internship/residency year). Specialty Training: - Completion of
accredited neurology residency. - Minimum of four years relevant
experience (residency counts). Salary: - Determined post-offer by
Activity Compensation Panel based on specialty, grade, and
location. Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active,
full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from
a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico,
or a territory of the United States Graduate Training: Subsequent
to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised
experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a
one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a
hospital or an institution accredited for such training. In
addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for
this position you must also meet the qualification requirements
listed below: Residency Training : Applicants must have
successfully completed the required accredited residency training
in the specialty of the position to be filled and equivalent
experience and training equal to at least 4 years . Experience may
not be substituted for residency training that is required for the
specialty identified. Education Only degrees from an accredited
college or university recognized by the Department of Education are
acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute
