internationalsos.com Job Description The Medical Officer at Wake
Island is responsible for delivering comprehensive medical services
in a remote and austere environment and ensuring the health and
safety of all personnel on the island. This role includes providing
acute and emergency care, managing chronic conditions, coordinating
medical evacuations, and maintaining medical records in compliance
with federal and state regulations. The Medical Officer is
responsible for providing medical oversight, direction, and
leadership to the medical staff regarding all areas of healthcare
in this remote setting. They will be responsible for the leadership
of the medical staff as well as providing status updates to the
prime vendor and federal agencies. Key Responsibilities: Leads
quality development and clinical governance agendas including
maintaining Code of Conduct of medical practice, medical
record-keeping, infection control standards, emergency response
preparedness, medical staff, and patient safety at the facility.
Medical Services Staff and operate the medical clinic on Wake
Island, providing acute and emergency medical care to all
personnel. Ensure availability for emergency response 24/7/365,
with the ability to respond within 30 minutes of notification.
Sustain life, limb, or eyesight until evacuation is possible.
Manage and coordinate medical evacuations, including administrative
services for medevac operations. Provide mortuary affairs services
as required. Inspect and maintain the medical clinic and equipment,
ensuring compliance with all relevant health care standards.
Provide direct supervision of medical staff and care oversight.
This includes the medical oversight and periodic review program for
advanced EMT on site. Provide medical staffing, loading, and
scheduling plans to meet medical support and care requirements.
Provide Medical SOPs (s), and policies for care services. Performs
other job-related duties as assigned Compliance Maintain and update
patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other federal
regulations. Ensure proper storage, inventory, and security of
medications, adhering to DoD, AAAHC, FDA, and state requirements.
Submit required reports, including detailed monthly reports on
medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, and any medical incidents.
Coordination and Logistics Work with ASRCC and International SOS
Government Medical Services, Inc. Operations Management to ensure
timely resupply of medical and laboratory supplies. Maintain and
repair subcontractor-provided medical equipment, ensuring it is
operational at all times. This list is non-exhaustive, and the role
holder may be required to undertake additional duties that are not
specifically listed above. Qualifications Required Skills and
Knowledge: Expertise in providing acute and emergency medical care
in remote or austere environments. Strong knowledge of medical
evacuation procedures and the ability to manage complex
evacuations. Proficiency in maintaining medical records and
ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, including
HIPAA. Competency in telemedicine and teleradiology services. mote
medical settings are highly desirable. Prior employment as a
government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.
Experience in coordinating radiology services. Experience
Preferred: Previous experience in military or reng and managing
medical evacuations, including administrative aspects. Familiarity
with mortuary affairs procedures and remote site medical logistics.
Education Required: Graduated from an accredited U.S. Medical
School or equivalent international school. Successfully completed
residency, or equivalent training, in a U.S. Hospital or equivalent
international hospital in anyone of three specialties: Family
Practice, General Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
Completed a minimum of 5-years post-residency medical practice
experience in the U.S. Hold a U.S. MD or DO current license with
certification(s) to practice medicine in the United States. Hold up
to date certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced
Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
certification preferred. DEA license. Physical Demands: Work
involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
Performing CPR. May require bending, stooping, and lifting up to 35
lbs. Other Special Qualifications: US Citizen with a valid
passport. Must obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with
Inquiries (NACI) or Tier 1 investigation equivalent if working over
180 days in a fiscal year. Availability to work during clinic hours
and respond to emergencies as needed. Have very high fluency in

on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of
