Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Providing skilled nursing in a progressive care environment requires experience, adaptability, and clinical expertise. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic 15-bed Progressive Care Unit, consisting of 3 Step-down ICU beds and 12 telemetry beds, structured to support patient recovery with focused care. Location Situated in Keaau, HI, this role is ideal for nurses seeking to immerse themselves in a tropical community known for its serene landscapes and close-knit atmosphere. Key Responsibilities - Deliver primary nursing care to patients in both telemetry and step-down ICU settings - Monitor telemetry and interpret telemetry strips for cardiac changes - Conduct fingerstick blood sugar testing - Utilize Meditech for charting and Pyxis for medication administration - Operate equipment such as BIPAP and continuous cardiac monitors - Collaborate with healthcare teams and be flexible to float across acute units including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and Emergency Department - Adhere to a dress code requiring professional scrubs Qualifications & Experience - Minimum of 1 year of acute hospital nursing experience within the past year, preferably in progressive care and telemetry - Current Hawaii RN license required by start of assignment; travelers must apply immediately upon offer if license is not active - ACLS certification preferred; current PALS and NIHSS certifications are also preferred - Ability to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before assignment start date for employee health appointment on Friday Schedule & Type - Contract position with 36 scheduled hours per week following orientation - No on-call requirement; float to other units as needed - Candidates should note no guaranteed hours and must be punctual for onboarding requirements This assignment requires professional nursing skills combined with the ability to manage complex patient care in a supportive unit environment.
