University of Hawai'i, Kapi'olani Community College, Emergency Medical Services is seeking applications for the EMS Skill Tester (Casual Hire). Important note: Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the primary faculty member and/or lecturer in providing training and/or evaluation of Emergency Medical Service skills which often involves ensuring competencies regarding high stakes/low volume proceduresMinimum Qualifications:
    • Possession of a current and valid State of Hawai'i EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic license.
    • Must have at least 24 months of EMS experience.Desirable Qualifications:
      • Work experience related to course to be taught.
      • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively.
      • Familiarity with competency-and outcomes-based instruction
