Regional Operations Manager, Lighting Services What you will do

Under general direction and as a member of the Lighting Regional Management team, provides leadership to Area Operations Management and Project Management for project delivery, on time and on budget results. Provides leadership for operations governance, (Build Playbook) over project delivery and supply chain to ensure constructability, profitability and manage risk. Consolidates and delivers the Region revenue, margin plan and TWC performance. Develops and executes project delivery strategies, overlaying and adhering to best in class project management and disciplined processes and tools to achieve profit plan, drive internal execution resource alignment and provide unique customer experience. Supports the project delivery efforts for opportunities committed to customer satisfaction, quality and project leadership. Assists in the recruiting, training, and development of operations team. Works with sales and engineering during the Design Playbook process to identify, support, and qualify existing and new project opportunities. Owns cost estimating of all new project opportunities working with sales and engineering.

How you will do it

1. Develops and delivers strategic and financial project delivery business plans. Sets aggressive long and short term goals.

2. Monitors and tracks business plan. Provides the Region Management Team with status of progress against plan and forecasts for achievement of objectives. Takes proactive steps to avoid potential short falls.

3. Seeks out opportunities for improvements in installation quality and productivity.

4. Participates with Regional Sales and Engineering in assessing risks and making expeditious sound decisions concerning opportunities worth pursuing.

5. Ensures consistency of project delivery systems across the areas. Enforces standards established within the Region and in accordance with the Performance Infrastructure Play book and/or other JCLS/JCI policies and procedures.

6. Effectively plans for future resource needs and assists in allocating resource needs to meet near term commitments.

7. Analyzes the skill sets required to execute project delivery and ensures that proper training and development programs are in place.

8. Engages early in the sales process to provide input on vendor/partners selection, scope enhancements, value engineering, risk assessment and be able to plan for future execution needs. Provides cost and estimating oversight and ownership.

9. Drives account management. Participates as a member of selected account management teams. Establishes partnering relationship with principals of major subcontractors.

10. Establishes customer touch points throughout the life cycle of projects to gain feedback. Follows up on customer satisfaction surveys. Coaches’ teams on proactively addressing trends identified in surveys. Leads the group by demonstrating focus on achieving customer satisfaction.

11. Establishes the Resource Team plan for staffing levels and takes action to achieve that plan. Hires, retains, performance manages, and plans for career development of the Area Operations teams. Ensures adherence to Company policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives regarding human resource management. Tracks changing trends in the marketplace and takes action to adjust organization accordingly.

12. Serves as an active member of the Lighting operations leadership team by providing Regional and Area performance information in an accurate and timely fashion, and working with and supporting other Corporate and Regional leaders to establish standards, resource sharing and incorporating “Best Practices”, reporting performance metrics, establishing and actualizing learning programs.

13. Ensures compliance with state, local and Federal legal requirement and ensures that installation business is conducted with the highest ethical standards.

14. Champions and drives the Safety Program for employees and subcontractors at all levels in the organization.

15. Promotes JCI objectives for workplace and supplier diversity.

16. Maintains a network of relationships outside of JCI through professional and community organizations.

17. Fosters an environment that recognizes and rewards employees for outstanding achievement and performance.

What we look for

Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture or equivalent work experience. Ten or more years of progressively more responsible operations management experience in the Building Construction Industry including five or more years of direct project management experience and 5 or more years direct supervisory experience over other Project Management Professionals. Professional recognition and industry networking are desired. Must demonstrate high-level competence in written and verbal communication skill, possess strong presentation skills and proficiency in speaking to large audiences. Able to lead and direct cross-functional and cross-business unit project teams to achieve business results. Must possess broad knowledge of commercial/contractual complexity/deal structure/financial acumen/disciplines of supply chain, negotiation skills and communication skill at C-Suite level. Ability to lead, manage, mentor and inspire diverse teams. Strong ability to negotiate, persuade and influence. Must be proficient in software scheduling tools and applications. Must have high level project management process competencies and strong proficiency in MS Office (excel, word, power point), Adobe Writer, Visio, MS Project, basic windows environment and internet business application usage. Able to travel up to 50% of time.
