We are seeking a District Quality Manager for our Hawaii District office located in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Responsibilities:

Develops, implements, and maintains the district Quality Management Program (QMP) along with project specific quality plans, as required

Reviews prime contract and subcontract details of specifications and requirements

Monitors quality activities to ensure alignment with project scopes as per the contract terms and conditions

Understands the project specifications and their implications and provides guidance for the project

Ensures that visual examination, witnessing, monitoring, and documentation occur, as required

Reviews work procedures/instructions in terms of quality management execution

Supports and provides Quality Assurance/Quality Coordinator (QA/QC) input to task plannings

Liaises with clients' QA/QC representatives, third party testing agencies, and trade contractor quality personnel

Ensures that suppliers and vendors adhere to project specifications including verification of delivered materials

Oversees audits to ensure adherence to project quality plan/manual and contract document requirements and provides feedback to project team and district management

Reviews RFQs, RFPs, etc. for quality management requirements and develops appropriate verbiage for the submission

Works with project teams to identify areas of risk and develop appropriate mitigation plans

Ensures the protection of finished work

Ensures that pre-work trade meetings occur to align understanding of project specifications

Ensures trade quality plans are reviewed and approved prior to work commencing

Ensures first installation reviews are completed, documented, and communicated

Provides quality management training across the district, as required

Tracks and monitors the effectiveness of the quality program and makes recommendations for continuous improvement

Ensures that all QA/QC documents and files are properly maintained and monthly reporting requirements are completed

Ensures that rework costs are tracked

Supervises, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors quality management employees daily

Stays current with industry practices and technologies, seeking new and innovative construction methods and processes, and driving communication and implementation within operations and with external partners

Provides guidance regarding the district's processes related to continuous improvement, leveraging the principles of lean

Effectively communicates with internal/external stakeholders to resolve issues

Provides technical background and assistance when resolving disputes and litigation

Develops and maintains strong customer-focused relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers

Builds and supports a culture that values the solution provider and profitability philosophies

Other duties, as required

Qualifications:

Tradesperson or post-secondary education in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline

A minimum of 10 years' experience in quality control and/or the construction industry, including supervisory and leadership experience preferred

Advanced knowledge of construction industry; understands specifications, drawings, methods, and procedures

Considered an expert and coaches and mentors quality team member(s) on construction inspection skills on a broad range of scopes of work

Excellent understanding and interpretation of construction industry codes

Ability to influence project planning and sequencing

Ability to monitor project progress to ensure timely inspections

Ability to interpret plans and specifications, visualizing two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions

Demonstrated experience in the development and writing of procedures and manuals

Experience leading internal project quality assessments

Demonstrates planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize own work, and delegate

Advanced written and oral communication skills; ability to address critical and sensitive issues at the district level

Ability to develop and maintain effective customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders

Conflict resolution and difficult conversation skills, with the ability to manage and effectively resolve conflict with trade contractors/supervisors

Demonstrates strong supervisory skills, with ability to coach and mentor

Ability to develop and deliver presentations

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Demonstrated experience in managing a team of quality control staff and reporting on quality issues

Strong aptitude for adopting new technology

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Working Conditions:

Work may be performed in a corporate office setting or in a jobsite office/field setting on an active construction site

Occasional travel may be required

Work may be required outside of normal business hours and on weekends
