The Accounting Specialist provides accounting support for the
Accounting Department and the other programs of EPIC ‘Ohana, Inc.
related to accounting matters. The Accounting Specialist performs a
variety of accounts payable and accounts receivable duties. The
ideal candidate has an excellent eye for detail in order to
accurately monitor all financial activities, resolve any
discrepancies, and handle payments under the direction of the
Financial Manager. Assist with the financial accounting and
reporting, forecasting and budgeting processes. Assist with the
general ledger and subsidiary journals, including cash receipts,
cash disbursements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue
releases, payroll accounts, cash flow forecasting, grants
administration and reporting. Assist with the reconciliation of
accounts payable and accounts receivable on a monthly basis. Assist
with processing cash disbursements on a weekly basis. Assist with
the purchasing process for the organization. Assist with general
ledger transactions and posting entries. Assist with reconciliation
of credit card purchases to monthly statements and summarize charge
card accounts including corporate card and travel expenses. Assist
with cash account reconciliations for all relevant bank accounts.
Assist with managing all annual, monthly and quarterly reporting
requirements both internal and external. Follow internal accounting
procedures and policies to maintain organized, accurate, and secure
financial records. Collaborate with others in the accounting
department to ensure all financial actions are accurate. Assist
with preparation of materials for Board of Directors meetings.
Assist with the preparation of the annual budget for approval by
the President/CEO & Board of Directors. Collaborate with the
administrative team to provide coverage for administrative duties.
Assist with arranging airline flights, rental cars, and hotels for
Staff and conference attendees, as needed. Assist with Interpreter
paperwork. Assist with new conference sites and obtain Certificate
of Insurance, if required. Obtain monthly usage readings from
copiers and postage meter. Monitor unused airline ticket log.
Deposit checks. Assist with monthly supply inventory and supply
ordering, when needed. Assist with facility management.
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related
field from an accredited institution of higher learning; and a
minimum of two (2) to five (5) years related experience and/or
training. High accuracy and attention to detail. Good data entry
skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and accounting
software, with the ability to learn new programs quickly. Have
strong solution focused problem solving skills. Must have strong
communication skills and a strong ability to support and engage
positively with all staff and other professionals. Must be
self-directed, organized and able to work independently. Team
player with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with
all levels of the organization. Demonstrated a high degree of
professionalism and maturity. Committed to quality and performance
improvement. Successful criminal and child abuse and neglect
background clearance as required by state regulations for those who
work with children and families in the Child Welfare System.
