Job Description:

Prescient Edge is seeking a Senior Language Instructor (GS-12 Equivalent) to support a Federal government client. As a Senior Language Instructor, you will:

* Provide instruction in listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills, as well as regional and culture subjects, using modern communicative methodology. * Integrate technology in the classroom and in homework assignments employing resources such as Smart Boards, Blackboard, Rapid Rote, and SharePoint, the Internet, iPads, Tablet PCs, or other "state of the art" devices provided by the Government. * Develop learning materials, as required. Instructors shall employ computer skills to organize data and teaching materials.

Job Requirements

Security Clearance

* May be required to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense SECRET clearance.


* Instructors shall meet all qualification, education, and experience levels and be effective using communicative, learner-centered, and task-based LREC teaching strategies for adult learners. * This includes qualification or competence in the following areas: * Classroom management, developing lesson plans, integrating Transparent Language CL-150 into curriculum, and use of supplemental materials. * Familiar with the Interagency Language Roundtable Proficiency Levels and how they relate to proficiency-based and task-based instruction, Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT), military topics and terminology. * At a minimum, the military content contained in the USSOCOM 200 Hour Familiarization courseware. * Language Instructors shall be qualified on use of PC-based computers, Windows Explorer, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), installing and enabling foreign fonts, and common media players (e.g. Windows Media Player, Real Player, common PC driven projectors, SMART Boards, etc.) as they relate to modern LREC instruction.

SOFTS Instructor Specific Requirement

* A minimum of 40 hours of training in online language teaching; have at least one-year experience teaching language through web video conferencing technology to small classes (less than 10 students). * Have prepared curriculum, lesson plans, and training support materials for online language instruction; have created materials specifically for online presentation to SOF personnel. * Have created classes, organizing homepages, and uploading materials in a Learning Management System (LMS).

English Language Qualifications

* Completed formal study of the English Language and achieved the score indicated on any of the below:

1) At least proficiency level 2 as measured by the Test of English as a Foreign Language.

2) A score of no less than 82 on the English Comprehension Level (ECL) test.

3) At least a proficiency level 2+ or Advanced-High (ACTFL) on an OPI.

Target Language Qualifications

* Senior Instructor will possess general professional proficiency (a language rating of ILR level 3 or ACTFL Superior) or higher in the specified foreign language. * Proficiency will be demonstrated by one of the following:

1) Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) or 2-skill OPI from the DLIFLC.

2) An interview certified by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

3) Defense Language Proficiency Test.

Education and Experience

* At least 2 years of recent (completed within the last 18 months) experience teaching foreign language at the secondary level or higher (a minimum of 200 classroom hours) and a master's degree in foreign language teaching, secondary education, applied linguistics, or a closely related field to be approved by Government.


* At least 6 years of recent (completed within the last 18 months), related experience teaching at the secondary level or higher (a minimum of 600 classroom hours) and a master's degree in any field.


* At least 6 years of recent (completed within the last 18 months), related experience teaching at the secondary level or higher (minimum of 12 week course), a bachelor's degree in any field and documentation showing that the instructor taught at least three 3-6 month courses in ILR 1 to ILR 2 or 6-9 months in ILR 2 to ILR 3 to military students and the average test scores exceeded the goal by at least a half point (i.e. 2+/2+ for a 2/2).
