Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:

The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) will provide team support to all Human Resources functions for the organization. Some of the core area of responsibilities of the HRG shall include recruiting, employment processing, performance management program administration, employee relations/administrative inquiries. The HRG is required to maintain in-depth knowledge of employment law, legal requirements and regulations, as they pertain to HR practices. Other areas of experience that may be called upon include HR program implementation, health and welfare benefit administration, training and development, records management, and AA/EEO compliance.


  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration and three (3) to five (5) years of Human Resources experience including: benefits administration, employee relations, training, recruitment, payroll, and compensation
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of the resolution of complex employee relation issues.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgment calls
  • Demonstrated experience using effective interpersonal skills, listening, diplomacy, and tact to build strong professional relationships
  • Advanced MS Office skills to include Word, Excel, and Outlook and ability to learn proprietary systems
  • Pleasant customer service orientation, professional demeanor, well-groomed, and professional attire required to represent the Company to prospective employees and general public

Essential Functions

Under general supervision, and in accordance with Company policies, procedures and guidelines, this position will be responsible for the leadership, implementation and delivery of a comprehensive recruitment and search process including the following:

  • Consult Managers and Supervisors providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Provide support for HRMS, including researching and resolving HRMS problems, unexpected results or process flaws; performing scheduled activities; recommending solutions or alternate methods to meet requirements.
  • Recommend process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, policy changes and/or major variations from established policy that must be approved by appropriate leadership prior to implementation. Serve as a key liaison with third parties and other stakeholders (e.g. payroll). Use project management skills in managing projects.
  • Write, maintain and support a variety of reports or queries using appropriate reporting tools. Assist in development of standard reports for ongoing customer needs.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Maintain in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs. Follow-up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Monitors performance evaluation program and revises as necessary
  • Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees
  • Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 report annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations
  • Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing
  • Maintains Human Resource Information System records and compiles reports from database
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
  • Conduct follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results
  • Modify programs as needed
  • Develop effective training materials utilizing a variety of media
  • Develop trainer development programs and coach others involved in training efforts, providing effective growth and development opportunities
  • Develop and maintain property communications such as bulletin boards and newsletters to ensure employees have knowledge of property events and general information
  • Plan, organize, facilitate and order supplies for employee events
  • Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization
  • Work effectively as a team member with other members of management and the human resources staff
  • Adheres to safety, confidentiality, compliance, and legal requirements
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned
