Southern Glazers Wine &Spirits (SGWS) is seeking a full-time
EHS & Security Manager to serve as the designated safety
andsecurity representative for HI,coordinating and implementing the
SGWS corporate programs. The EHS & Security Manager leads,
plans,develops, maintains and enhances the safety and security
culture and programsat the assigned distribution facilities as well
as merchandising and salesoffices.S/he will also develop anddeliver
effective standards, procedures, auditing, training,
communications,and educational materials to promote increased
understanding, appreciation andadherence to safe operating
practices throughout the workplace to ensurecompliance with SGWS
standards and government regulations.
The EHS & Security Managerwill be responsible for compliance
with all federal, state and local safety andhealth regulations e.g.
OSHA, FDA, FM Global, Fire Marshall and local lawenforcement.EHS &
Security Managerwill conduct thorough investigations and keep all
required compliancedocumentation, conduct safety compliance
training, assure implementation of andcompliance with the SGWS
Safety Management System, and be an active team memberof the
Workers Compensation Program.Actin other capacities as directed by
operations senior management.
Provide a safe and secure environment for all employeesand
visitors.This includes the facilityas well as drivers and sales
representatives, guarding against theft, vandalism,fire and illegal
Promote an injury and incident free culture across thedivision
to reduce EHS risks and ensure a safe and compliant work
Assurecompliance with all federal, state and local safety,
occupational health and environmentalregulations including
implementing the SGWS safety standards and managementsystems
Ensure all security policies are being enforced on aregular
basis and institute new security measures to ensure a high
compliancewith industry standards.
Workwith Facilities and Operations team as needed in providing
safety and securityinput during the planning and execution of
engineering and new technologyapplications to ensure that related
safeguards are incorporated which meet allapplicable regulatory
Assess work areas, tasks, equipment and machinery toobserve
possible unsafe conditions. Ensure appropriate risk assessments
relatedto jobs performed (Job Hazards Analysis) are conducted and
corrective actionsimplemented to minimize or eliminate injuries and
Conductsafety training and implement proactive programs to
mitigate employee injuriesand illnesses e.g. Stretching for safety
and Behavioral Based safety programs.
Audit and prepare written reports and evaluations of
bothsecurity and safety staff functions.
Ensure the monitoring of the digital recording systemwith
regards to loading discrepancies, theft, and surveillance is being
usedproperly to verify or refute complaints or allegations.
Assist in internal investigations of employee
Investigate and evaluate root causes for
occupationalinjuries/illnesses, incidents and near misses and
maintain relevant data todrive strategic program decisions. This
may include educating the lineorganization with performing incident
investigations including coaching andcounseling.
FacilitateDivision Safety Committee and act as catalyst for
assuring corrective actionsare taken for items raised by safety
Conductfacility safety observations and inspections on a
frequent basis e.g. weekly,monthly, annually. Promote hazard
identification and make recommendations forcorrective actions.
Maintainunderstanding of business processes and functional
interdependencies. Recognizeand escalate, as needed, those issues
identified as risks impacting, oropportunities to improve, division
Coordinatedeployment of environmental procedures, such as HazMat
response, SPCC, Tier II,etc. and ensure ongoing compliance with all
site environmental regulatorypermits.
Visiteach job site within areas of responsibility to monitor
performance and workwith division managers and supervisors to
improve performance on a continualbasis in response the risk
assessment observations in both safety and security.
Capable to work underpressure and deal with unexpected
challenges in a professional and calm manner.
Ability to testify orgive oral statements at appropriate

BS/BA in Safety, Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a
related field or a combination of education and experience in
safety and security equivalent to Associates Degree and/or 8-10
years relevant experience.
Certifications are preferred, such as CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, OHST,
CHST, CSHM, or other recognized EHS or Security credentials, or
willing to secure within 3 years of hire date.
Demonstrated expertise in the anticipation, recognition,
assessment, and control of risks to personnel, contractors, and the
Working knowledge of OSHA /EPA regulations and have background
in both incident investigation and risk mitigation
W orking knowledge of Emergency Response and Risk Mitigation to
provide support for emergency preparedness, response, and business
continuity planning efforts.
Working knowledge of warehouse equipment operation, including
obtaining Power Industrial Equipment (PIT) Train-the-Trainer
certification within 1 year of hire, if not already
Mathematical skills ability to provide leading and lagging
indicator metric reports or ROI on safety and/or security program
- Effective and proficient communication and presentation skills
with the ability to lead and/or facilitate team meetings speak
effectively before large groups of employees or customers.
Capable to work under pressure and deal with unexpected
challenges in a professional and calm manner.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving
security and/or personnel issues in the workplace.
First Aid, CPR & AED trained, or ability to complete within 1
year of hire date.
8 + years of EHS and/or security operational experience with
increasing level of leadership responsibility.
Minimum of 5 years of experience developing, implementing, and
overseeing safety and security programs.
Previous experience in food & beverage, distribution operations
or another fast-paced environment preferred.
Automated and Manual work force Distribution Center
Experience working with Union and Non-Union associates.
Working knowledge of MS Office products and various other EHS
data management systems (Intelex, Gensuite, Eneblon, etc.)
Experience in a fast paced, changing/growing organization.
Available to work flexible shifts including days, nights, and/or
Regularly stands, walks, bends, reaches, lifts and moves
intermittently. May require occasional pushing, carrying, or
pulling up to 20lbs
