*Full Job Description*

*Position Summary*

The Reasearch Assistant position is _*for the Kane Program-male applicants only*_.

* Assists the Program Manager in the following activities: Implementation of the scope of work identified in the active research project(s). Inclusive of and not limited to outreach to the Native Hawaiian community.
* Identify and register eligible Native Hawaiian participants for research project(s),
* Collect data
* Prepare information for analysis or presentation
* Perform standardized measurements
* Participate in field work
* Participate in library research
* Use computers to facilitate data collection and document information related to the active research project(s).
* Deliver culturally appropriate services to the Native Hawaiian community.
* Participate in monthly meetings.
* Work with community facilitators, and coordinate the research project(s).

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities*

* Outreach to Native Hawaiian communities (i.e., health fairs/events, presentations, canvassing, etc.).
* Inform eligible Native Hawaiian clients about organization's programs and services.
* Identify, screen, and register eligible Native Hawaiian participants for research project(s).
* Coordinate research activity (i.e., facilities, facilitators, etc.).
* Conduct research activity (i.e., interviews, interventions, assessments, etc.).
* Provides client follow-up per research protocol.
* Maintains client record.
* Provides client follow-up.
* Document client encounter in a timely and concise manner.
* Data collection per research protocol (i.e., assessments).
* Data management.
* May conduct library searches related to the project by utilizing sources such as academic journals, newspapers, statistical records, and other related resources.
* Provide clerical/office support to the project (i.e., copying, fifing, etc.).
* Assist clients with access to health care resources.
* Provides resources to agency employees.
* Attends trainings, conferences, meetings pertinent to research project(s).

*Other Duties and Responsibilities*

Assists with

* The development of research implementation plan(s).
* Monthly, quarterly, annual reports.
* The evaluation of the program/service delivery.
* Participates in monthly staff meetings.
* Performs other duties as required or assigned by the Program Manager.

*Working Conditions*

Indoors and outdoors, under a variety of conditions in the community.

*Working Hours*

Normally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required; dependent on position duties and responsibilities.

* Observing and reporting client health care needs and services;
* Dealing courteously and tactfully with clients, service providers, coworkers, and indigenous communities

* Preparation of oral and written reports, memos and other communications in a clear, concise and professional manner

* Relaying instructions to others

*Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements*

1. Knowledge of:

* Native Hawaiian and other Pacific Island cultural values and practices.
* Community needs, health, and human service agency resources.
* Excellent problem solving, organizational, detail oriented and time management skills.

2.Ability to

* Comprehend Health Specialist knowledge within 3 months of employment.
* Coordinate research activities
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
* Prioritize tasks and complete tasks as assigned.

*Other Requirements*

* Current valid driver's license
* Use of own personal transportation vehicle for work with proof of current no fault insurance coverage (bicycle will not suffice)
* Drivers abstract without any moving violations.
* CPR, First Aid and Health Care Provider certification.
* Valid COVID vaccination card at the time of application.
* Valid tuberculosis clearance within one (1) year.

*Education and Experience Requirements*

1. High school diploma or equivalent

2. Associates or Bachelors Degree in a Health and Human Services field.

3. Three (3) years of experience in a health care, education or social human service position.

4. Competent in Native Hawaiian practices

5. Active involvement in Native Hawaiian culture/practices

6. Research Assistance: 3 years (Required)

7. Data collection: 1 year (Required)

8. Demonstrate competency within three (3) months of clinical assessment data collection.

* Specifically with the Native Hawaiian public/community health
* Able to provide any documented clinical data collection/research

9. Computer literate:

* Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
* Ability to learn KOM's Electronic Health Record

10. Any combination of education and experience that would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position
