Job Description:
The mission of KEY Project is to nurture and promote the
cultural, environmental, social, economic and recreational
well-being of the Kualoa-He--eia area by providing a vital
grassroots civic resource that effectively serves the needs of our
diverse multicultural community. KEY provides programs and services
touching all ages at our multi-purpose community center in Waihe--e
Valley on O--ahu. -Job purposeThe purpose of the Youth Program
Assistant (Casual Hire) - is to support the Program Coordinator to
meet the goals and objectives of the Ho--opilina Youth Program
during intersession activities. Through collaboration with the KEY
Project team and community, this position will gain valuable skills
while working with the youth of our community to promote physical,
cognitive, social, and cultural connectedness.Duties and
responsibilities
- Assists with all activities of the youth intersession
programming including, but not limited to, facilitating discussion
and exploration of excursion topics, assisting with student
behavior management, implementing team building activities, and
modeling and enforcing appropriate safety precautions
- Conducts professional and safe drop off and pick up processes
for youth and their families
- Performs various support roles such as administrative/clerical
duties, preparing and managing program supplies, and cleaning
designated areas used for activities such as classrooms, vehicles,
and campus facilities
- Works with KEY Project staff, participants and their families,
and community partners to create a positive environment towards
fulfilling program and organizational goals
- Accepts and performs all other tasks as assigned by Program
Coordinator or other staff leads
QualificationsQualified and selected candidates will be required to
successfully complete a background check. -Minimum qualifications
required include:
- High school diploma
- 1+ years of experience working directly with youth
- Proficiency with MS Office, Google Applications, email, and
social media platforms -
- Excellent listening and interpersonal skills
- Organizational and task prioritization skills with ability to
meet deadlines
- Must be able to deal effectively and calmly with challenging
situations. -Preferred qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Canva, Constant Contact, and Zoom
- Experience working with diverse, multicultural communities
- Have general cultural knowledge of Waihe--e and surrounding
ahupua--a.
- Valid CPR/First Aid Certification
- Strong swimming abilities
- Clean driving record and valid driver's licenseWorking
conditionsThis is a casual hire (temporary) position not to exceed
beyond a maximum two month employment period (anticipated work term
is June 1 - July 31). - This position is part time (20 hours per
week) for non-programmed weeks, but it is required to work 40 hours
per week during active program weeks (June 20th -30th and July 17th
- 28th). - Work will be performed in both indoor and outdoor
environments with exposure to various temperatures, weather
conditions, and potentially uneven terrain or vegetation. -
-Physical requirementsThis position requires the ability to walk,
move, squat, stand in a variety of positions and locations both on
campus and at offsite venues, walk for long distances/durations, -
the ability to lift 30 pounds, and the ability to maintain spatial
awareness of surroundings and people. - -
