Duties - Inspects a variety of standard and nonstandard electronic measurement equipment that has been repaired, modified, overhauled, and calibrated, such as microwave equipment, radar and missile test consoles, high frequency sampling and storage oscilloscopes, distortion analyzers, recording oscillographs, and digital delay generators- Analyzes and isolates maintenance problems in common, complex, and unusual measurement equipment- Uses and maintains tools- Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment- Maintains records and documents actionsRequirements Conditions of Employment--- U.SCitizenship Required--- Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov--- This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program--- Disclosure of Political Appointments--- This is an obligated position in which an employee has return rights with date of 04-DEC-2025Upon the employee's return, incumbent may be required to vacate this position.--- The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicleAn appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position.--- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.--- The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtimeThis work may require some exposure to work under adverse environmental conditions.--- Incumbent may be required to take part in mobility exercises and contingency operationsPerforms other related duties as required.--- COLOR VISION: Normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123, Medical Examination and Standards--- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.--- This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.--- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction ProgramEmployees must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.--- Illegal drug use by the employee in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.--- IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally, or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity.--- Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release.--- This is a Term Position, with the possibility of conversion to Permanent without further competitionQualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118CQUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 - Electronic Equipment Installation And Maintenance FamilyAlthough a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applyingQualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of timeThe screen out element for this position is the Ability To Do the Work of a n ELECTRONIC MEASUREMENT EQUIP MECH INSP without More than Normal Supervision JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:--- Knowledge of operating electronic principles involved in the production and utilization of oscillations over a broad range of frequencies; signal and waveform behavior, distortion, and amplification; pulse, trigger, and synchronization techniques; a variety of display and indication methods; the make-up, operation, and use of a variety of equipment such as microwave equipment, radar and missile test consoles, high frequency sampling and storage oscilloscopes, distortion analyzers, recording oscillographs, and digital delay generators; and the methods and techniques of precise measurement of electrical and electronic quantities and relationships such as standing wave ratio, power, impedance, reactance, and attenuation.--- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.--- Skill in tracing signals and voltage paths, and in the analysis of waveform characteristics such as timing, duration, frequency, and phasing; and test set-ups to isolate malfunctions and check performance characteristics of special or unique test panels or mockups.--- Skill in using and maintaining hand tools such as drills, chassis punches, wrenches, soldering irons, and micro soldering units to remove and replace circuit parts.--- Ability to apply a variety of difficult techniques to inspect complicated repair, modification, testing, alignment, and calibration of equipment, which serve as test equipment or precision measurement standards.--- Ability to use computer terminals to maintain records and document actionsPHYSICAL EFFORT: Frequently lifts and carries, unassisted, items weighing up to 40 poundsSometimes required to lift and carry items weighing more than 40 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workersThe work requires working in a sitting position for extended periods of time, and frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping are requiredSome work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature componentsWORKING CONDITIONS: Employee typically works in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areasMay be required to work at remote user locations under variable conditions or within clean room environments where special garments including head coverings, shoe coverings, and gloves are requiredExposed to the possibility of electric shock;
