Job Description:

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is comprised of industry-recognized government service firms designated as Native Hawaiian Organization (NHO)-owned and 8(a) certified businesses. The Family of Companies (FOCs) includes Ke`aki Technologies, Laulima Government Solutions, and Kpono Government Services. Alaka`ina Foundation activities under the 501(c)3 principally benefit the youth of Hawaii through charitable efforts which includes providing innovative educational programs that combine leadership, science & technology, and environmental stewardship. Kupono Government Solutions is looking for qualified General Military and Family Life Counselors (MFLCs) to work on one of our DoD Military & Fmaily Life Counselor Program contract located in Oahu, HI. The General MFLCs will provide face-to-face, worldwide support through either rotational, surge, or on-demand assignments. Rotational assignments provide counseling support up to 12 months. Surge support is provided for a specified period of time of up to 90 days. On-demand support is provided for a specified period of time, typically one to three days. Camp support is one to seven days for short term camps, and up to three months for long term camps. The Counselor is a licensed mental health professional who exercises discretion and independent judgment to provide appropriate information, coaching, training, and education to Service Members and their families. The Counselor provides face to face direct, non-medical, brief, solution-focused counseling services to individuals, couples, families and groups for situations resulting from commonly occurring life circumstances such as parenting, relationship conflicts, stress, personal loss, and deployments and reunions. - Partners with and augments activities of Service Family Centers, Guard and Reserve programs (including Inter-Service Family Assistance Committees), unit family support staff officers, and other programs and services to build coalitions and connect Federal, state, and local resources and nonprofit organizations to support Active Duty, Guard and Reserve families. - Identifies family needs and provides a get-well plan in compliance with non-medical counseling scope. - Provides face to face non-medical problem solving counseling to families when other resources are not available and makes appropriate referrals and warm transfers to military and community resources according to the needs of families and service members, including the following activities: - Consults with military commands and installation service providers as requested. - Develops and/or uses approved training and education programs and materials and advises on requests for new or revised presentations by military leadership. - Provides client tracking of services performed and referrals made using appropriate reporting system. - May assist with SPA counselor interviewing process. - May advise on curriculum development for delivery of service and in response to new presentation requests from military leadership. - Other duties as assigned. Rotational and Reserve Component counselor daily activity shall reflect an average minimum of 5 hours daily of providing in person counseling and 3 hours of ancillary activity daily in an 8-hour day. An in-person counseling activity is considered to occur when the counselor engages a participant, determines the participant is in need of counseling, and provides the limits of confidentiality statement to the participant. Ancillary activities may include but are not limited to consultation with a commander or with another provider or staff (Family Center Director, chaplain, Principal, School Liaison Officer, teacher, Camp Director etc.) about how to enhance resiliency, conducting briefings and presentations, or providing referral resources to a participant outside the context of a counseling session. Degree/Education/Certification Requirements - Master's Degree in clinically relevant field from accredited university required. Demonstrated counseling competence required. - License/Certification: Possess and maintain a full license to practice independently at the Master's or Doctorate level as a Clinical Social Worker, Marriage Family Therapist or Psychologist without restrictions or supervision (i.e. LCSW, LISW, MFT, LPC, etc.) Assignments will - Two years post-license experience working with individuals and families in the areas of relationships, behavior management, coping skills, parenting skills/education, child development, separation, stress management, single parenting, step-parenting, family separation, reunion and reintegration, assessments and referrals preferred. - 18 months direct MFLC experience preferred.A direct association with the military is preferred but not required. CITIZENSHIP/SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: - Must be U.S. citizens, and must speak fluent English. - Position requires a Secret clearance. Personnel who have previously received an acceptable NACI/CNACI check in the last five years shall provide proof to the prime Contractor prior to performing under this contract.
