Job Description:
The Construction Project Manager (CPM) is responsible for design
and construction management of The Queen's Health System's capital
projects in accordance with corporate standards, schedules and
budgets that meet the requirements of User groups.-- Candidate will
develop programs as the basis of project design and budget, and
develop project schedule for soliciting capital, soliciting design
team in coordination with the Construction Contract Specialist;
prepare project cash flows; interfaces with User Groups and other
QHS stakeholder.-- During the design phase, the CPM is responsible
to meet program objectives, budget and schedule; and assist user
groups to develop equipment and FF&E, prepare bid packages.--
CPM hosts and conducts meetings during the design and construction
phases.-- During construction and through project closeout, the
Construction Project Manager oversees the construction work and
proactively identifies and manages risks that threaten the success
of the project.-- CPM works with the Project Budget Coordinator in
the review of invoices and payment applications for completeness
and accuracy.-- CPM plans, coordinates and facilitates all units
which involve internal coordination with Biomedical, Facility
Maintenance, User Departments, IT, Housekeeping, and outside
vendors as needed.-- Ideal candidate will have a degree in
engineering or construction management and (5) years construction
project management experience in institutional or large scale
commercial projects in a supervisory and/or management role in the
building trade, and demonstrate ability to read plans, cost
estimating, and trades knowledge.-- Candidate must have good verbal
and written communication skills.--Responsibilities -- I. JOB
SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES: --- Responsible for the design and
construction management oversight of corporate facilities at The
Queen's Medical Center (QMC), as well as, supporting operations at
The Queen's Health Systems (QHS) in strict accordance with
appropriate corporate standards, schedules and budgets that meet
all requirements of the user groups. II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
--- Essential: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.-----
Continuous: sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged
periods.----- Frequent: walking.----- Occasional: standing,
stooping/bending, climbing stairs and ladders, walking on uneven
ground, climbing over and crawling under construction obstructions,
lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 20 pounds,
reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of
an object.----- Operates computer, calculator, telephone, fax,
printer and other business office machines. III. TYPICAL WORKING
CONDITIONS: --- Works in general office and construction sites with
exposure to both clinical and administrative areas of the Medical
Center.----- Access to vehicle for travel to work sites. --- May
require travel to the neighbor islands. --- Some use of ladders is
required. IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
AND LICENSURE: --- Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction
management; or five (5) years work experience as a Project Manager
in institutional or commercial projects may be substituted for
education requirement. --- Valid U.S. driver's license required in
accordance with HI State law rules and regulations. --- Meets and
complies with qualifications set forth in QMC Fleet Safety Policy.
--- Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
issued by the Project Management Institute highly desirable. B.
EXPERIENCE: --- In addition to educational requirement, two (2)
years experience in managing institutional or large scale
commercial projects. --- Experience to demonstrate all aspects of
construction and project management, i.e., plan reading, cost
estimating, trades knowledge, etc. required. --- Supervisory and/or
management experience in the building trade preferred. Equal
