the globe.Salary Range: $34.00-$37.00SUMMARY: The HVAC Technician
will maintain heating, ventilation & cooling equipment and controls
in proper operation, control, and balance.DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installs, services and repairs environmental-control systems
utilizing knowledge of refrigeration and/or hydronic systems,
air-side equipment/components, piping, valves, and ductwork, and
controls.
- Mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor,
using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering
specifications.
- Fabricates, assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts,
using portable metal working tools and welding equipment.
- Installs evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system.
- Installs fan systems on "mounts" or in-line.
- Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape, using
cutting and bending equipment and tools.
- Joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means
of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch,
forming complete circuit for refrigerant.
- Installs expansion and discharge valves in circuit.
- Connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity
controls and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and
connect control panels to power source.
- Installs air and water filters in completed installation.
- Replaces defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches,
fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units.
- Provides Test and Balancing for air-side systems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by
management.Supervisory Responsibilities:This job has no supervisory
responsibilities.Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college
or technical school, or six months to one year related experience
and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and
experience required.
- Certificates, licenses and registrations required:
Certification to operate, maintain and repair AC, evaporative
cooling, dehumidification, and mechanical ventilation equipment.
Will need an EPA license.
- 4 years journeyman's experience in the trade.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong oral and written skills.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in
written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Physical Demands And Work

- Frequently required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or
crawl.
- Frequently required to talk or hear.

- Frequently work near moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally work in high, precarious places.
- Occasionally work around fumes, airborne particles, or toxic
chemicals.
- Occasionally exposure to outside weather conditions.
- While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the
work environment is usually moderate.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50
pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include: Close
vision; Distance vision; Color vision; Peripheral vision; Depth
