Job Description:

Provides analytical work on a global portfolio of marketable and private equities, fixed income, real assets, and absolute return strategies. Produces investment reports utilizing industry software; maintaining investment databases; collaborating with teams to perform a variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis of investments. Conducts research projects. The Investment Analyst I is an entry-level position.

Essential Responsibilities

Reporting, Analysis, Research


  • Produces analytical reports, both regular and ad hoc, for division, senior executives and Trustees.
  • With supervision, works on standard report content and troubleshoots routine issues.
  • Utilizes software that facilitates portfolio monitoring, portfolio construction, and analysis of potential investments.
  • Utilizes industry software for standard tasks.
  • Performs research and analysis on investment projects.
  • Performs standard research projects as assigned.

    Portfolio Monitoring:

    • Performs qualitative and quantitative analysis of portfolios and investment performance.
    • With supervision, performs routine qualitative and quantitative analysis.
    • With supervision, monitors receipts of required reports and verifies cash flow activity.
    • May attend external investment manager meetings and calls. Is accompanied by senior staff.

      Collaboration:

      • Works within asset class team as well as in collaboration with other Investment Analysts.
      • Pro-actively partner with assigned mentor to receive guidance in achieving learning objectives in the program.

        Position Requirements

        Minimum Qualifications

        • Bachelor's Degree.
        • An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
        • Analytical Skills:


          • Good analytical skills.
          • Ability to provide a logical framework to support conclusions.
          • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new systems and programs.
          • Investment Management Knowledge:


            • Interest in financial investments.
            • Relationship Management:


              • Ability to work effectively with others in team environment and build relationships.
              • Strong verbal and communication skills.
              • Business Judgment:


                • Evidence of good judgment and demonstrates professionalism.
                • Strong work ethic and professional standards.
                • Ability to work independently within a team environment.

                  Preferred Qualifications

                  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or related field.

                    Physical Requirements

                    • Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
                    • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
                    • Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
                    • Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.

                      Working Conditions

                      • Work is conducted in an office environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
                      • Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
                      • This position involves infrequent travel.
